FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

The following lists the questions received regarding the project along with their respective answers. Please consult them if you have any doubts about the project’s implementation, and feel free to contact us for any further inquiries.

Why do I need to collect signed parental consents for the students?
Isn’t the training course intended for teachers?

Because the training course includes some activities to be carried out in the classroom with the students.
We will collect some simple data from the children before and after the training courses, through questionnaires conducted in class.

Once completed and signed, to whom should I return the information and privacy forms?

If they have been completed in paper format, they will be collected at school by the assigned Tutors. If they are in digital format, they can be sent to the following address: unionefalascuola@gmail.com.

If I have been assigned to the control group, will I participate in the training course?

Those selected for the control group will not participate in the training this year but will receive all materials for the 2025–26 school year and will have access to online support.

If I am a support teacher assigned to a single class, working alongside a classroom teacher enrolled in the course, can I also register?

Yes, both to the Mathematics course and to the Implicit Biases course (but only to the same course as the student’s class teacher).

If I am a fixed-term teacher, can I register for the courses?

Yes, of course!

Some families may choose not to provide consent. In this case, can the remaining students in the class who wish to participate still do so, or does the entire class need to participate?

For parents who have questions, we are available for an online meeting in which we can explain the importance of their children’s participation in the project and reassure them regarding privacy.
In any case, the class and you may participate in the project. Simply, children whose parents have not signed the consent form will not complete the questionnaires.

I am unable to obtain signed parental consent forms. Is it possible to participate in the training without external tutors administering the questionnaires in the classroom?

The purpose of the project is to evaluate the proposed training courses. If it is not possible to administer the questionnaires to the children, we will not be able to assess the impact of the training. We are available to organize an online meeting with parents to explain the rationale of the project, but if more than half of the students in the class cannot complete the initial and final questionnaires because their parents have not given consent, the teacher will also be unable to participate.

When does the project start and end?

The project involves teachers and classes during the 2024/25 school year. It is scheduled to begin in October 2024, and the project results will be delivered by the end of 2025.

Should someone external come to administer the questionnaires in the classroom?

Yes, this part is handled by staff appointed by us (the tutors), who will come to the classrooms to administer certain questionnaires at two specific times: before the start of the teacher training and at the end of the courses.

The project also considers the possibility of accessing the INVALSI results from the second grade, but aren’t they anonymous?

Of course, the data are and will remain anonymous thanks to the use of the SIDI code, which will be provided by the schools only after obtaining consent from the students’ parents.
